MSNBC Not available in NY/NJ?

I just got a promo mailer from Verizon FIOS and I was looking at the channel guide that they sent out, and MSNBC had a * by it and it said "Channel "MSNBC" not available in NY/NJ"

Does anyone know why, that seems odd.

Possibly a contractual issue is what comes to mind off the top. No other reason for that to happen that I can think of.

Cablevision has exclusive rights in that area. For whatever reason, MSNBC decided to give Cablevision that exclusivity. I don't know when that contract ends.
