Just don't bang it with a lawn tractor or the like. Put rock or deep mulch around it.
 
I ended up with a 6" treated post for my dish 1000. I had a slimline D* dish on it for a couple of years and now the dish 1000 for a year. So far it has remained true with no warping. I know a good steel post is best, but I used what I had and it's concreted over 2 ft and solid as a rock. I check level on it occasionally to make sure it's ok.
