NBA Hot Stove Thread

Pistons reach deals with Gordon, Villanueva - NBA - Yahoo! Sports

NBA Free Agency is under way, and we have our first big move, so why not start our third Hot Stove Thread?

We have an NHL one and had the NBA one.

Woah. Two great moves by the Pistons. They had the money and they most certainly aren't afraid to spend it. So much for "rebuilding." These Pistons want to compete NOW!

BTW Pistons fans, which of your players won't be returning this year? There's rumors that Sheed and Dyess won't be coming back, is this true?

Wouldn't you think this would be under the NBA one already ?

The 2009-2010 NBA Season Thread isn't up yet for obvious reasons. The latest offseason NBA thread was the NBA Draft Thread. This is a different subject of interest. I think this thread is perfectly necessary on it's own.

Clippers Trade Randolph to Grizz

Rasheed Wallace will probably not be back, not sure about McDyess. Of the two, I would rather have McDyess back. At least he tried last season. 'Sheed is rumored to be going to San Antonio.

I like both of the moves made yesterday by Dumars. Gordon brings 20 pts. a game and doesn't mind coming off the bench. Can you say Vinnie Johnson? Villanueva is an upcoming player. 16 pts. and about 7 boards per game, and he only played 26 minutes a game last season. I can see those numbers expanding when he gets 40 minutes per game here.

We still need a center. Tyson Chandler, Chris Kaman are available, and I'll bet that Utah may be open to some discussion about one of their big men. They may not be able to afford all three. (Boozer, Okur, Millsap).

Nice job Joe, we should be competitive once again.

I like the moves by Detroit. They'll definitely be much improved. Do you think they're going to move Stuckey?

ESPN is reporting that Ron Artest will sign with the Lakers, and Rasheed Wallace has received an offer from the Celtics.

Two things:

1. I don't have a good feeling about this.

2. I honestly thought he'd want to stay in Houston. With the uncertain futures of T-Mac and Yao, he would have made a great team stabilizer.

KG, Pierce and Ray Allen joined the Celtics brass in their attempt to sign Wallace.

Bill, do YOU think Rasheed would be a good signing for the C's?

I'm worried that a Celtics team with Rasheed AND Stephon Marbury could be a recipe for disaster.

We all remember what happened with the Cowboys when they signed troubled players in Pacman and T.O.; I fear this could be a bad fit.

Ordinarily I would say you are right, BUT two things:

1. I could be wrong, but I don't think Marbury will be back next year.

2. KG and Sheed are very close off the court, and there is NO WAY KG would put up with any BS.

Why not a good thing? I think it is great, and a huge improvement for us over Ariza. If Phil Jackson can keep Dennis Rodman in check, then Ron Artest will be a walk in the park.

Sheed does have a short fuse and picks up technicals early and often. However, more so than that I'd be worried about his effort on the court. It was apparent that in Detroit last year he quit on his team. I've never seen a complete lack of effort displayed quite like the 2008-2009 version of Rasheed Wallace.

If this DOES go down, the Lakers will be without a doubt, even better next year.

With all these acquisitions going on in the NBA this year, it appears the elite teams are getting even stronger. It's almost scary....

I can't believe this. Oh man I can't stand him as a man. Good player though.
