the one thing we can all agree on is that this whole thing is one big mess. i think i'll stay away from it for awhile since i don't expect things to change much anyway anytime soon

Correct me if I am wrong...Gumbel does not represent the players. Those are his words... not the players. IF you have been following the thread, there was a very good interview by Trey Wingo, if I am not mistaken, with Michael Wilbon. Check it out and get a better understanding.

What I find the funniest is the owners stating they are financially secure enough to sit out a season...I thought they were struggling financially and this is the reason they locked out the players in the 1st place. So...which one is it? IF they were really losing money, they would be negocaiting to not lose anymore. But Myabe that's just me...

What I find the funniest is the owners stating they are financially secure enough to sit out a season...I thought they were struggling financially and this is the reason they locked out the players in the 1st place. So...which one is it? IF they were really losing money, they would be negocaiting to not lose anymore. But Myabe that's just me...

If they're losing money by playing the season, not playing the season will save them money. Of course, this assumes there are no penalties for breaking things like tv contracts, arena contracts and such.

Good point. But then in those TV contracts, there has to be some clauses that state they can prorate some of those moneys if games are not played.
