Still can't seem to get away from direc.

I just helped my brother set up new service
He has a HR44, HR24 and client.
It was set up yesterday.

He loves everything but client-its painfully slow.
Yes, all settings are correct-I checked over phone with him :)
Should he ask for a H25? or HR24.
He is satisfied with the extra tuners he has now-not a big recording guy.

Since order is closed can he still change out client?

Thanks for help.

Maybe put the client in the least used room, otherwise call to see if he can exchange the client for either a H24 or H25. He'll probably have to pay full price for the receiver, but I'd imagine the contract extension would be negligible & very miniscule.

Isnt a update when you reboot the receiver once you see the "welcome" screen its 0-2-4-6-8?
Maybe on a client its different but that is how it works on the receivers

I would get another DVR. after the upfront costs, the monthly fee is the same & you have two more tuners as well as more independent storage space...

Yeah I know, that's why I was asking about the client,if it was the same?

You can't force a download to the clients, if there is an update that hasn't been applied to the client it will appear under the 'History' section on the Genie. If there is one listed and the client didn't reboot & install yet on it's own you can reset it and it should install the software.

Has anyone with the current clients notice
It's just not as fast as an HR44 or HR24?
Maybe there is an update for client? Not sure?
Maybe because it is not stand alone unit?

My brother can buy a H25 under 100 bucks.
Not sure it will share whole home or have full
Dvr functionality. Of course it would share/barrow
A tuner from HR44.

Best bet to just deal with slowness of client?

H25 has it's own tuner. You can watch shows recorded from your Genie on it,but it is not a client. For $199.00(cheaper if you order from eBay) he could get a HR24. That gives you 7 tuners total.
