FridgeFTA/Amiko Americas has been working with Micasa Network on a project. After some discussion we were wondering how strong their signal is in various parts of North America. We’d like to ask the great people in the True FTA community to help us with signal reports.

Micasa is on 121W/Galaxy 23. 3889H 13020SR 3 / 4 FEC. Micasa is running FTA so a simple transponder scan should bring it in. Only thing to note is that it is DVB-S modulation but H264 video. Old MPEG2 only boxes won’t be able to get the video.

For those willing to help here is what we need.

1. Your latitude/longitude or nearest major city.
2. Dish size.
3. STB type and Quality reading. (STB type is so I can figure relative strength between various STB’s.)
4. Any other notes on the signal you want to share.

Bonus points for PR, Caribbean Islands. Super bonus if you can give us C/N with a satellite meter.

As long as you are checking the signal be sure to watch the channel. They’ve got great content. Most if not all of it is in English too.

Thanks in advance to those willing to help.

Location: Los Angeles, CA
Dish size: 1.2 Meters
STB type and Quality reading: MicroHD Q:70%, USB DVB Tuner 7.3 dB
Other notes: LNB is offset from the center of the dish so the signal is probably a little bit stronger.

Note: According to the DVB-S modulation specifications (DVB-S QPSK 3/4) requires a minimum C/N of 5.5 dB to lock.

Thanks everyone who has reported at Fridge and Satguys. Keep the reports coming please! These are going to be very helpful for Micasa Channel. As you guys know, the beam maps and EIRP's from the satellite operators don't necessarily tell what is really happening on the ground. The True FTA Community has by far the most number of C-band receive points in North America to give us a real world view of a signal.

Hi Joe,
location: 49N 97W just north of the US/Canada border in Manitoba
Equipment: 10' reflector, Norsat 8125, AzBox Ultra (see sig below)
Signal info: Steady at 80-81%Q, although I get some breakup this morning on the picture but looks like it could be the in the broadcast video and maybe not a signal issue.
