Hello everyone I've been reading your board for a while now and I got my free to Air the other day and figured I could go out there after all the reading and just hook it right up (lol):eek: boy was I wrong. Well now, I have found a bird not the one I was looking for but have found one got dark on us so we had to stop but trying to figure out how far off I am from the bird I'm looking for. I'm looking for Galaxy10
Done a blind search on it and have came up with about 31 channels most of them encrypted only one is not. My system has named it pac1 it's all in Japanese

you're on H1 which is at 127 degrees

make a mark on the dish so you know where you are right now and move the dish less than 1/8" east from that spot and G10 should be there
 
looks like you may be at G13/Horizion (127W).

For Pac1, is the freq around this:

11.720 H 26.800

Hmm don't know what I'm doing wrong cant fined any other signal in the sky... lol can see how my day is gonna go.
 
A lot of folks around these boards actually prefer to work in the dark since the tv is easier to see. I have done it a time or two when I had a dish on the porch, but now that I have to go to the roof, I usually opt for early morning/late afternoon so that I can see what I'm doing better.
 
Pac is Chinese, not Japanese ;)
you will also have to adjust your dish elevation a bit as well as adjusting the azimuth.
the elevation for G13 (which is the sat your on) is around 30.
G10 is around 33.
(I used Nashville when figuring these numbers Lat 36.2 Lon 86.8 I figure I live in middle Tenn and the numbers aren't much differant, so this should get you close)

purchased me Stab HH 90 motor trying to figure out my true south here just cant seem to get it rite.

Yes, and be sure and "OK" it when you are prompted to. You will be prompted when you "Exit".

Ok cant get anything over 2 bars when I sweep east to west here are my settings don't have a clue what is going on.

Motor Elevation should be 36
Your dish elevation should be 39
24 is for the HH100, I believe you said HH90.

Make sure your skew is at 0, set the lnb stright up and down, no angle.
Make sure you set the box for USALS
Make sure the lnb power setting on the menu is set to on.
When you use the word "sweeping" I see large adjustments, maybe I'm wrong, moove the dish in the tiniest increments possible, like 1mm at a time.
The motor setup is WAY harder than a staionary setup. You may just want to put the dish up without the motor and point it at something. I guess I would use AMC4, it is close to your southern bird and it has KUIL fox which is a VERY strong signal, easy to dial in (although AMC3 does have the research channel, another strong one, so I guess either would be fine). Once you get the dish up and pointed at a few differant birds, you can get a feeling for the kinds of adjustments you need to make, then hit the motor.
Look at it this way;
an algebra problem with one variable is a no brainer 3+X=4 x=1 obviously.
make it 2 variables and you have X+Y=4 (azimuth and elevation are your 2 variables) you can figure it out but takes awhile.
add a motor and you get 3 variables X+Y=A (azimuth and elevation and motor elevation are your 3 variables) good luck with this one =)
So you can see why the stationary setup is easier.
I hope that was an apt metaphor =)

Keep pluggin away, this is the hard part, once you get it going...icecream and candy shoot out of your receiver =)
