My MIO4K+ seems to have seen better days... It no longer display any video

It seems to boot fine, I can access it via openWebIF, see the screen in there, but on the TV, all I get is the initial EDISION grey slide then the skin TNAP 4.1 background, then the screen goes blank while the bargraph cursor on the front pannel fills up and then the TV says there's no HDMI signal.

I rebooted several times, tried with a different TV, with the power supply of my MIO4K, same result

I also rebooted in a different image (also TNAP 4.1), same thing

any suggestion?

Thanks in advance

Mine is doing the same! I'll let you know if I find the fix. Elbandido (and others) are trying to sort it out over at LegitFTA

Well, makes me glad I didn't upgrade to TNAP 4.2 as of yet, in case that has something to do with it...

HDMI ports can be very sensitive to static shocks, and blow out easily. You should NEVER swap HDMI cables with the power on, just in case.
no this was running 4.1 :-(

and no swapping HDMI ports... I agree those can be very sensitive to static.

I'm wondering if we might be able to access some log files over the network (I do have access to the file system and to SSH console) and try to see what's going on, other than maybe a blown HDMI port. Note that the port seems to be working fine during the initial boot process. A bit like a windows computer with a bad video driver.

are you running TNAP 4.1 or 4.2?

Per El Bandido over at Legitfta.com:

You should have telnet if you have WebIf.
Start a telnet session while the receiver is using TNAP, then enter INIT 4
Wait about 10 seconds then enter:
ENIGMA_DEBUG_LVL=5 enigma2 > /tmp/debug.log 2>&1
Wait about 5 minutes, then navigate to /tmp of receiver files. Copy the debug.log to your computer, zip it, and post it here.
Maybe the log will show us something. Maybe not. Try it and see....

4.1 TNAP or earlier version on slot 1, don't remember. I have all 4 slots loaded with different images. All 4 images have the same boot problem. Did a forced install of TNAP on slot 1, but didn't fix the problem. So my problem not TNAP specific.
My receiver was not hooked up when it failed except for the coax cable, so I'm suspecting lightning damage.

I posted my debug log at legitfta and awaiting reply.
Good luck!

4.2 TNAP has been on my mio4k for most the year of 2022 now and lots of reboots and multi boots into other slots with no issue. 4.2 has a newer kernel the signal finder like open Vix and the see the service list with the yellow button and a driver update for the 950Q ATSC tuner that fixes the signal meter, the blind scan plugin is updated over 4.1 other than that functions the same.

thanks, I just posted my debug.log too

I also suspect some type of hardware failure. We had a strong storm recently but i'm almost certain that I used the box after that without problem. and no damage that I have seen so far to other HDMI devices hooked to the same switch or to the TV (at least the Roku and the TV are working fine)

There's some progress:

Brct203 has found a work-around and recovered his video issues, he apparently has a bad file or something in his TNAP install, and likely needs a forced re-install with NO backup restoration. Unfortunately, Armadillo is still SOL.

Thanks for the update. Still OK here as of last night - fingers crossed. Hoping this is just a couple isolated cases that coincided with each other. :oldfrown

My original Mio 4k went belly-up with what seems like nearly this same issue in late December 2020. After going through all the hoops with El Bandido, I ended up getting a warranty replacement from Brian.

Haven't heard of a whole lot of permanent issues such as that, but I know of a few more than just mine. My replacement receiver has been solid since then. I now leave it up and running 24/7, and it's on a UPS. (it also was on UPS when the original went bad though)

Good to hear that it is not too common of an issue. Mine is mostly on all the time (up for 21 days straight today). It is also on a UPS with power filtering and I routinely disconnect the coax whenever there is a chance of lightning. So I guess I'm doing all I can - the rest will be up to fate! :rolleyes

actually i'm not sure that I have really recovered... TNAP still giving me black screen upon boot up, until I go in the menus and change the video resolution to 480, and then it sometimes lets me change it back to 1080p. It seems to depend also on what HDMI port I use on my TV... one is labeled HDMI1 and when using that one, switching the resolution of the MIO to 1080 results in a black screen and the TV saying there's no video signal. If I use the port labeled HDMI2/DVI, then it lets me switch the resolution to 1080p. Very strange. (both HDMI ports work fine with other devices). Also tried 4 different HDMI cables with all the same result.

I'm thinking it looks more like a hardware problem with the HDMI port on the MIO than a software problem, but some variations of software is sometimes able to get around the problem.

getting the exact same problem with an existing TNAP 4.1 image and a newly installed TNAP4.1 one (without using a backup) and even with the PLI recovery image that EB sent me

OpenVIX seems to work mostly ok, but with some occasional black screens, and some suspicious video flickering during boot up.

edit - I just reconnected the receiver to my older Sony TV, where I normally use it and even openVIX won't work properly with that display :-(
