Hello, I got a pansat 2500a and a 30" disc, I live in Appleton, WI and i want to get the AMC4 signal, (110W) . I dont really know what does that mean except somewhere at West side.
So i connected the disc to reciever through (IF INPUT) then connect the receiver to my TV through (TV OUT).
And then i tried to move the disc around the west side but i coulnt' find any Quality signal only str signal (70-76%). I tried alot of different SATs but i coulndt find any quality signal at all.
Could anyone tell me the exact angel i need to point my disc at and how to set the reciever up. Do i need to flash my reciever or something?
Thank you.

AMC-4 is at 101w, you can use a DirecTV receiver and LNB to find this satellite then switch to the FTA receiver and KU linear LNB, peak the signal and you are on AMC-4 :)

What channels are you after?

Satellite is a little more complex than plug it in and go.

A lot of patience helps.

First. A dish pointing at the ground will give you a signal strength of 70+ on a Pansat 2500A.

AMC4 is located at 101 and not 110.

Make sure you know what kind of Ku band LNBF you have. It will either be a Standard LNBF or UNIVERSAL. Knowing this is important because the 2500 puts a different LNBF frequency in for each.

From the beginning:

Make sure your mounting tube is level up and down all the way around. This will make pointing much, much easier.

On the back of the dish, line up the mark with 37.4 like in PSB's post. This will get you close on the up/down (elevation) part of it.

See pic: The picture shows my dish set to 26.

Here is another pic: AMC 4 Setup screen from last year.
http://www.satelliteguys.us/attachment.php?attachmentid=1420&d=1093234819

Next get a compass and look at it. The point should be at 180 and 0. Now without moving the compass, look toward the west to where the compass numbers are at 200. You want to point the LNB in that direction to just past 200. You can start before 200 if you wish and nudge it west until you hit something.

AIMING:

Now in your antenna setup menu set it to AMC 4 Ku.

Standard or Universal
Standard LNBF with a FREQ of 10750
(Unless you have a universal LNB)

Go down to TP
Set your TP to 4 which should be default of 11822 and 5.700
This gives me the strongest signal to work with.

Now move your dish just a hair at a time until your signal strength goes above 70 and you see the quality bar start to jump around. Very small movements are needed here. You can swing past it if you move it too much at one time.

Once the quality bar moves above 30, you are very close now.

You may have to move the arm up or down a hair or maybe left or right to get the quality past 30. Once you get it in the green, you can do a scan. From here you can twist the LNB a little bit to fine tune the SKEW. This is just another tuning adjustment.

You may also have to slide the LNB forward or backward in the bracket to focus it a little better. Here again, patience is what gets you a better signal. It isn't mandatory, but is more for fine tuning. Right now we just want quality above 30.

You are pointing your dish at something 23,000 miles away and about the size of a car. It will take time.

Once you get the highest quality. Tighten everything down and check to make sure you still have good quality.

SCAN:

You should get Lawyer TV, DMC and TAN TV as well as several other TV(18) and radio(8) stations.

I just went outside and leaned a 30" Winegard up against a propane tank and a board and was able to dial in AMC 4 at 83 strength and 90+ quality in about 10 minutes without a compass. (See pic)

Good Luck and Welcome!!
