I currently have on hr21or22, it’s the hd dvr with 200 hrs or recording in sd and 50hrs hd. I want to upgrade to a dvr with more memory. I only need a dvr on one tv. Any suggestions? Thank you for your help.

Hr24 has 65 -100 hrs hd and 450-480 hrs SD
Hr34 up to 800 hrs

This all is subjective, as it all depends on HOW you record and What you record.

If your recording MPEG2 or MPEG 4, Sat channels or OTA as far as how much you'll get on a DVR disc.

Well, you need one that has ESATA to work with Directv.

I have used Seagate's for many years now, some like them, others don't.

You can buy one already in an enclosure or make one yourself. Like Jimbo said, it must have an esata connection.
