Often times when watching tv over my antenna (outdoor) my tv has started literallly turning off. I do have a basic Mohu amp hooked up in between & tv is run thru surge protector. Vizio C.S. was no help. Just had me turn off tv & unplug for 1 min. Doesn't happen when I'm on an HDMI source. Is the tv safe to operate? About 1 yr old. Also, if I remove amp picture pixelates and not watchable. Thanks

How odd. It almost sounds like a HDMI-CEC issue, but this is only with your ota antenna?

Is the amp plugged in to the same circuit as the TV?If not try plugging in to the same outlet,If it is try putting the amp on a different circuit (breaker). You could also try disconnecting everything else from the tv and see if the problem goes away.
This could be a case of the dreaded ground gremlins.

I'll try this and let you know! Thank you

I'd measure the DC voltage between the center conductor and the shield at the TV end of the cable and see if you're getting something more than a volt or two. Then, just for kicks, I'd measure the AC voltage.

They make a gizmo called an "Coax DC Block" that will prevent DC voltage from coming down the line to the TV (the power inserter/injector for the amp should have this built in).
