"Netflix executives have long said that they raise prices when they feel they are delivering enough value to justify them"

Just one problem: at a certain pricepoint, it no longer matters how much value you think you're delivering; it's what the customer is willing to pay.

I could own a Ritz Carlton and think my rooms are worth $500/night, but if nobody's paying, I go out of business.

I almost bought their stock when it came out

Is it just me or are the ads on the $7.99 tier becoming more frequent and more obnoxious? I would like to switch to the ad-free tier but $20 a month?

I watch the WWE shows on Netflix and for this past Mondays WWE RAW the 2 and a half hour show only had 33 minutes of wrestling in it. THey kept jumping to 3 to 4 minute ad breaks over and over again. Its getting crazy.

If I didn't get Netflix free from T Mobile I would probably cancel it.

My sister and myself are pondering this option:

One of us sets up the $19.99/month ad-free plan and adds the other as an "out of household" member for the additional $9.99/month and we split it monthly for $15 each.

If I read the below link correctly, this is completely legal, correct?

Yes, I am doing the same for a friend of mine.

For comparison in price increases-

DirecTV $5-10 + a $2 increase in the RSN fees.

Dish-$5

Comcast-
$10 more a month, along with increases in Broadcast, RSN and Box fees.

That is basically what I did for awhile ....
The addl user (out of house) use to be $7.99 ... that was when they begged people to sign up addl users, vs sharing passwords.
Your second person would create thier own account and use thier own Password, while still splitting the bill.

It worked once it got set up correctly and in thier system.

I have the Highest Netflix package because of Commercials, however, I only use it when Something big comes on that I'm intersted in, I use to use it a lot more as she would watch it when I was watching something else.
It was worth it when I was getting more than just myself out of it.

I kept holding off on the Verizon deal because I pay my Streaming services by the year whenever possible.
Although Netflix won't allow that, I fill a Gift Card and dom it that way.

What do you think ...
Seeing the RSN's are all but gone, will they drop that addl monthly for those that are still trying to use them ? :clapping :eeek

Even if the RSNs are gone, it will soon just become the sports fee, instead of the RSN fee.

Right ... :(
Why are you so worried, you dropped DirecTV with their incredibly high prices and the RSN fees, to go with YTTV and their more reasonable monthly charge and no fees.

But even that is too much for me, since the majority of programming on Live TV services is reruns, fake reality shows and other worthless channels.

Netflix is still, even with the increase, a much better value, so much new scripted content in comparison to paid Live TV.

Just keep in mind the extra member can only do one stream at a time so if the extra member has more than one person they can't all be watching additional streams at the same time.

Can the Extra Member have multiple profiles though?

Only 1 profile.
