Works well. Have a cable modem and linksys router in room at end of house. Have cable from linksys to xe102 in plug, then another xe102 plugged in behind the HR20.

Picked up both xe102's from ebay for about $45 total.

XE102 - NETGEAR.com

Was your linksys router have wireless as well.
I tried a straight hookup from router to HR21 via the XE102 and it does complete internet access.
When I run software, it says it momentarily sees the ethernet plug, then says HomePlug nor connected and disappears.
Any suggestions?

My linksys router is wireless.

I have a Cox cable modem that feeds the linksys wireless router via eth cable. I then have an eth cable out of the router into the 102 in that room. I then have another 102 in the room with my HR20. Works A-OK.

Yeah. Damn It. Not sure why mine doesn't work.
Mine is DSL (no Modem) to the router, ran router to XE102 with ethernet cable, plugged in, HR21 top hole ehernet to XE102, plugged it in.
HR21 does not like the setup.
HR21 gives an IP address that is nothing like the router.
Can I / Did you change it in advance settings to match router?

No. Cable is generally much easier than DSL. A few times ive had to login to the dsl modem and change settings before logging into the router to change settings, just to get wireless to work. DSL can be a PITA
