I moved into a new place and previous owner let me his directv dish so alls I have to do is plug and play. I want to buy a used receiver from eBay.
First, does directv permit the activation of used receivers that are in good standing??
Second, once I get receiver and card, can I just call up Directv and get them to sign me up for new account and activate at the same time ??

Consider asking DIRECTV how they will treat you. What they are willing to do is situation dependent.

Correct, they will allow you to ADD a used piece, but only after the new equipment has been in place.
