I cancelled DirecTV approximately 2 1/2 years ago when I moved to a new location. Does anyone know if I will qualify as a new customer if I sign up now? If not, can my wife sign up as a new customer under her name? I would like to know as much as possible about their new customer policy before I call. I would rather the account be under my name so I can do the haggling over the phone. Any insight would be appreciated.

Have wifey sigh up using a different phone # then your previous account.

Do as shmeff said, when she calls in have her hand you the phone once her info is attained and then you can discuss what you want with them.

Or get in touch with their Customer Retention Department, they treat returning customers usually better than new.
