New Direct customer with a HR34 dvr.

I am a new direct tv customer with the new HR34 dvr, and I have to reset the HR34 about once every 2 to 3 days for different reasons. I understand this is a new product, but i wonder if this is typical are should i call tech support. I would appreciate any information.
 
I am losing programs taped on my other dvr. When i try to watch the HR34 the first time in the day it won't power on. Every time i reset the dvr i have to put a new 30skip search in.
