New DirectTV equipment and Dish Two homes

Not sure if I will get the right answer. I have two homes with two Direct TV slimline Dishes. Just got a new HD receiver with SWIM. It works fine in 2nd home. I get message 771 A "trying to communicate with Dish" when I tried to see if it worked in main home. It's the same Dish. Whats up? Does the satellite need an adjustment?

It may be the same dish, but a different lnb. Try changing the dish type to multiswitch instead of SWM.

If both dishes are swm, make sure the power inserted for your main house is working. And if you have a splinter at your main house, check that as well to make sure it is working properly.

Like Cave said, and I would go a step further, make sure you HAVE a PI in each case.

Did the OP set up the second home, or D* ?
If the OP did, he may have forgot about the PI at the second home.

Could be that the 2nd home is NOT SWIM, rerun the set up, like Chip said and also make syre you have BBC's installed.

What model recvr are we talking about, in both cases.
You've mentioned that the dishes are Slimlines ... are the both SWM or not or one of each ?
