Additional channels can often be logged by performing a regular satellite or transponder scan after completing the blind scan
Thank you for posting that. I seem to remember doing just that on a few satellites, and for some reason, it just didn't register(stay in memory) CRS bad!

We are at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention in Nashville, Tennessee meeting with our Glorystar contracted broadcast partner channels and uplink partner, RRsat. The response to the microHD has been excellent during our pre-show meetings!

The marketing and directors are loving the fact that we will be soon be shipping the microHD for Glorystar systems at similar pricing as the standard HD systems and the engineers are excited about the performance and the features. GloryStar is announcing distribution plans for the GEOSATpro microHD and the introduction of the first and only DVBS / S2 HD receiver in North America that is able to display Closed Captioning. The closed captioning is not only available on the composite video output for traditional decoding by the television, but the real exiting feature is the internal closed caption decoding by the microHD and on-screen text overlay on the HDMI and composite outputs!

Why is this such a deal?

Televisions are unable to decode and display closed captioning using HDMI connections. All televisions are only able to decode and display closed captioning from the low resolution composite video input or via the internal tuner. Televisions requiring a set top box for reception of programming from cable / satellite / Internet are unable to enjoy both high resolution video via the HDMI connection and the often necessary closed captioning. Subscription services using set top boxes and DVD players have recognized this limitation and provide internal decoding and text overlay on the video outputs. This is not only provided as a service to their customers, but also to meet the FCC and CTRC requirements for closed captioning.

Several generations of FTA DVBS / S2 receivers have been manufactured and distributed in North American ignoring the FCC and CTRC closed captioning requirement and necessity for many customers. The GEOSATpro microHD not only provides closed captioning, but is raising the bar to decode and display a text overlay on all video outputs! This feature is available for both live and recorded programming in every resolution from standard definition 480i to high definition 1080p.

Our broadcast partners now have a path to explore MPEG4 cost savings, high definition distribution and most important, to meet the FCC and CTRC requirements for closed captioning!

So CC is the secret feature that we were expecting with the release of the MicroHD? I was hoping the MicroHD was going to be able process IPTV FSS signals using regular linear LNBs. Thanks, for the CC function, though. :)

Umm, my Vizio is OK with CC via HDMI.

I believe that your Vizio HDMI port is displaying Closed Captioning that is being generated by the source that it connected to.

Here is some interesting reading from the HDMI website that may clarify the ability of a television or other display device to generate closed captioning from a HDMI input.

The factory loaded firmware will include the majority of the features, excluding the recent Closed Caption release. At time of retail sale the update file containing the CC will be posted and also spooling on Galaxy 19 for OTA-SSU update via the satellite.

Thanks for your most kind words. We hope that the receiver is well received and continues to mature!

you use an external hard drive on it. The receiver is very small size wise. I suggest you read the first few pages of the thread. That has lot of info about it. The rest is just comments on little things to make it better
