New JD Power and Associates Rankings

The new JD Power and Associates rankings for best Cable/Satellite companies are out and this year WOW! Internet and Cable (My Employer) is #1. Good ole' Adelphia tied for last and Comcast and Time Warner did not fare much better. Here are the top four:

1. WOW! Internet and Cable

2. Directv

3. Cox

4. Dish Network

my cable company, brighthouse comes in just above the industry average.

I always find these results meaningless for the top companies. If you look at the actual scores. The top four are seperated by only 9 points. That's on a 1,000 point scale. As a percentage, it's just under 1%.

WOW! - 717
DirectTV - 716
Cox - 711
DishNetwork - 709

So WOW!, is 0.1% "better" than DirectTV and DirectTV is 0.7% better than Dish. What does that really mean?

True enough, those are very small differences. Essentially a tie.

However the big cable companies, like Comcast, Charter, and Adelphia, are a LONG way down the list. A difference of 106 points, as there is between Dish and Adelphia, would likely represent many thousands of people being more dissatisfied with Adelphia.

I had Cox, and recently switched to DISH Network. Cox was way too expensive and the quality wasn't all that great. However, Cox customer service is excellent, in my experience.
