Newbie questions !!!!

I plan on reactivating my DirecTV account from a year ago. I have a few questions.

I will be "living" in Dallas. I know in my CURRENT address is in the spot beam so I am not worried about that. And a have a physical address and billing address in Dallas. My only concern is my phone line. I have done some reading and it seems since I am activating multiple receivers I will have to hook up a phone line. But from what I read it seems DirecTV doesn't know what Area codes go where. So if I gave them my Land line at my CURRENT address they would not realize this was a phone number form a different location??

Also DirecTV installation looks like it has really got more complex since when I installed mine. Could anybody point me to a Do IT your Self F&Q for DirecTV installation?

You only need a phoneline if you want to order PPV movies.

022266 is correct. All receivers are supposed to be connected to a land based phone line and D* will always ask if it is but unless you need to update a DirecTV DVR or order PPV, it is not required.

They do this to discourage account sharing. You can also order PPV on the Internet or by phone so it works very nicely without a phone line.
