That doesn't work. I tried it with my VPN set to IP addresses in Atlanta and DC and the DMA lookup on Locast's page still determined my real location.

While everyone has there favorite programming and everyone has likes and dislikes, what does WGN America
really have that will be missed, I am guessing they just put shows on during the day as a place setter for there news program at night. Wish we had the WGN superstation of a few years back.

I watch Blue Bloods, Person of Interest and Last Man Standing on WGN America.
So will Dish be doing free antenna installs due to this? I will be losing the local ABC affiliate for my DMA.

I've been using the two-tuner OTA module for the Hopper 3 for two years now and I'm very pleased with it. The house I'm in already had a roof-mounted antenna so all of the locals come in at signal strength 100. I really like using the Dish DVR to record OTA and see (most of) the channels in the guide. But if Dish ends up raising rates overall this January, I may consider cancelling. I will miss the ease with which I can record OTA. I know this has been asked many times before but is there a preferred independent OTA whole-house DVR that is recommended by Dish cord-cutters?
So now it is yet another in the long list of rerun channels?
There are a few out there. I have a Amazon Recast and an AirTV Anywhere.
Recast only works with FireTV devices but works quite well and the cost is a one and done price. No fee for guide services as some other OTA DVRs have.
AirTV products tie into the SlingTV app but don't require a SlingTV subscription. Because of that you can use it on a slew of streaming devices. As with the Recast it is one and one pricing.
Notable differences:
AirTV doesn't do DD5.1 audio and the guide is 7 days.
Recast does do DD5.1 audio and the guide is 14 days.
Otherwise they are quite similar.
The big three are Tivo, Recast, and Channel Master.
I already had a Firestick (because Dish Anywhere is available on Amazon's Firestick) so I chose the Recast. I have had it for quite a while now and I am happy with it. I use the 4 tuner version of the Recast. It doesn't have all of the features of a Hopper, but is very reliable and does not require any additional monthly payments (the program guide is free). The Recast has allowed me to drop the local channels from Dish, saving $12 a month, but the best part is that I no longer care about the local channel disputes and blackouts!
The Recast frequently goes on sale (it is on sale right now) for $100 off the 4 tuner version ($179.99 instead of $279.99).
I've got a Tablo quad box with a 2TB USB drive connected to it. I pay the annual fee for the guide data and the commercial skip function (which works most of the time but not perfect). It uses an app on your smart TV , I use Samsung or streaming boxes like Apple TV. Also has IOS and droid clients and you can stream out of your home.
It works - but it's dependent on what platform you use. Likely won't work on iOS but works well from my fire stick.

Fox just got pulled in the St Louis area. I was surprised that my OTA Fox channel quit working too. So did a direct OTA connection to TV. OTA Fox was working. So reconnected my OTA back to my Hopper 3 and did a OTA channel rescan. My OTA Fox thru the Hopper 3 is working now. Wonder why I had to do an OTA channel rescan!! But I am happy happy now. So if you lose an OTA channel do to this mess try a rescan.
Lost CBS and CW here, anyone try calling Dish to see if they're providing free antenna install?
Atlanta works fine here with NordVPN on my Firesticks. On my PC I use the Location Guard extension with Chrome or Firefox, and the Fake GPS app on my Android phone. All work well with most or all Locast served cities.
Still doesn't work. I have PIA on my laptop set to Atlanta and Location Guard on Firefox set to Atlanta. DMA lookup on Locast still says I'm in my correct geographical location.
I don't know what to tell you to try next. Here's a small screen grab from my laptop screen running Chrome with Location Guard with no VPN here in upstate NY.
In my part of the earth those greedmongers at Apollo own KIRO-TV, the local CBS outlet which for now is replaced by The Brian Neylon Show. KIRO, for years, made a big deal about the availability of translator channels for the station. KCPQ/13 (now FOX-owned) also does to a lesser extent, sometimes listing them when they flash a legal ID graphic during a show. Good thing KIRO has a translator near Mount Vernon which serves me while dish and Apollo deal with their failure to make nice. Last night I got my Let's Make A (Primetime) Deal fix and my Colbert fix with that Obama feller. Could have seen ol' neon nose but I have the DVD for that.
Only problem I have is that I need to adjust the eastward antenna a bit. When the weather becomes crappy the picture pixelates with green boxes. I also have a second antenna pointed northward toward Vancouver, BC which means I get to see pretty much every NFL game that gets televised in the Seattle market (the Vancouver CTV stations - both of them - typically schedule the same games as the Seattle stations offer). Bottom line: if you can where you are install a good off-air antenna. You'll be glad you have a backup in the end.
One thing more: I have no idea why stations demand so much money from dish or the others or where it ends up. Very little of it, if any, should be in stockholders' or networks' hands. The money should be used by stations to upgrade their translators (or install new ones where needed) so that all viewers in the market can receive an off-air signal of sufficient quality.
Guess you're fortunate to get it to work and I'm not. I installed Location Guard, set the fixed location to Atlanta and Locast still says I'm in a location outside of their service market.
