I saw something interesting on the web site of one of the local TV stations in the Green Bay, WI area. It states that there is a move underway to bring all local stations plus approximately 30 cable stations to market over the air. Monthly cost is expected to be about $25. They expect it to be in place in 2005 or 2006. If this comes to be it should bring some serious competition to cable and satellite. I for one am very interested. Here is the complete posting:

Q. What does the future of digital look like?
A. There is a national broadcast initiative that is very exciting and gaining enormous momentum. As you read this, plans are developing that would enable you to receive all the local broadcast stations in HD, plus approximately 30 of the most popular cable channels, all over the air for around $25.00 per month. It is the next great wave of over the air digital broadcasting. We hope to see this come to the Green Bay market some time in 2005 or 2006.

You can get about 80 channels on Dish Network for $32 a month including locals although the 30 channels would probably be the main ones and them being in HD would make it worth it to some.

This is just USDigital, or some other company wanting to do the same thing. Not good, they take all your HD bandwidth away... :(
