So their Dish's logic is to punish/lie to their own subs because the channel gave one game to everyone?
Dish and Comcast and other providers had contracts with the NFL Network and that contract more or less gave their "partners" exclusive rights to certain games. NFL Network broke the contract....

For what it's worth, Dish is following what Comcast did. Comcast move the channel to a sports tier for the same reason. NFL Network broke their terms of the contract.

I agree with the sentiment of that quote, so why couldn't E* respect our intelligence and tell us why they did what they did, instead of trying to BS us with that "Free Preview" angle??....

I agree that the NFL Network was wrong by taking away exclusive rights to the game from cable and satellite. I think the NFL Network had good reason because of the pr mess that came out and what our stupid government officials were doing though.

But IMHO it is more wrong that Dish totally lied to their subs by saying that the NFL Network was just a free preview even though they had advertised it was in Top 100 and had subs sign up because it was in the Top 100 package.

I agree that Dish Network was very wrong in lying to its customers by telling them that the "free preview" had expired but at the same time you would have to be really naive to not know the real reason on why they removed the channel. I knew something like this would happen as soon as the NFL Network broke their contract by giving the game away for free. If it wasn't for the NFL Sunday Ticket, Directv would have done the same thing as Dish Network.

After reading a few internet boards (including other sports oriented ones), some people didn't know the real reason behind the whole NFL Net on Dish fiasco and when they called Dish to ask why, they were told a blantant lie and were asked for more money to keep what they were told in the past was included in their current package.

I just read in a blog that Dish will be dropping Showtime because their show Dexter is now running on CBS. And any other networks that allow their programming to be on an over the air network will be punished. Has anyone heard about that?

Hold the phone. The NFL Network v. Comcast case was remanded back to the District Court. It appears what Comcast done was wrong. So would that be interpreted as what Dish Network did was wrong?

Nevermind. Not true. It was someone trying to make fun of the whole Dish vs. NFL Network situation.

They went to Congress, or encouraged "fans" who didn't have the channel, to complain to Congress. They created the "mess" themselves !

I've said this before and I'll say it again (this isn't directed at you, DJ Rob): If they NFL Network (or the Big 10 Network or the next 'network' who comes along) thinks there is such great demand for their channel, putting them into a sports tier shouldn't hurt them at all. If people want the channel bad enough, that is, they'll put their money where their mouth is, they'll add the tier to their subscription. If they aren't willing to do that, they really don't want the channel that badly after all, now do they ?

You are correct Hall but the ugly side of this logic is that you have the content providers putting every channel that is worth a damn on their highest tier in order to milk more money out of the subscribers.

I don't want to argue all of this again since I went through everything already with the Big Ten Network. I just want to point out that the greed runs rampant on both sides of the equation.

Yes, I totally agree that both companies are greedy. The NFL as a whole is one of the worst ever. And knowing a bunch of people that work for Dish, I hear about some of the inside crap that goes on there that isn't pretty.

I probably also take it more personally and get more heated up when Dish totally pulls something out of their ass like the "NFL Network free preview" since I was a victim of a lie from them that cost me hundreds of dollars when I was a customer of theirs.

It should be interesting to see how this whole thing shakes down.

Well I got a letter this morning from Dishnetwork'It said Thanks for being a Dishnetwork customer, bla bla bla, And

"Congratulations! As a valued DishDVR Atvantage customer, you price for our most popular programming package(Top 100) will not change in 2008 and is guaranteed through January 2009"
Well then they sent a channel lineup card, with it showing the channels and the packages that they are in ,And guess what? It says the NFL Network is in the top 100 pack! Why don't they think before they start spreading out sh*t like this ! So if they had these flyers and channel line up cards printed months ago ,and NFL Network is still on it,They Know Damn well it wasn't a free preview! They would have made the change before sending out this flyer,if they Knew the "Promotion" was going to be over.

From the CEO email support

Like everyone else I was ticked off when they moved the NFL Network, since I don't care about 99% of the other channels on the Dish 200 selection. So I emailed the ceo@echostar.com box venting and explaining how I didn't appreciate them thinking I was dumb enough to believe the free preview argument. I also stated that I wanted documentation from them on any other channels they had in "free preview" that were at risk of being taken away. Here is what I got as a response:

Mr. <name removed>,

Thank you for your email.

The NFL Network was not in “free preview”; however, due contractual obligations, it is no longer available in the “America’s Top 100” programming package. In your signed contract and residential agreement with DISH Network, it is stated that programming is subject to change without notice. I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.

The channels that are currently in “free preview” until 2/27/08 are:

Oxygen ch.127
American Movie Classics (AMC) ch.130
Independent Film Channel (IFC) ch.131
Fuse ch.158
Hallmark ch.185

Thank you,
Kristen

FYI, I vented enough to the account specialist that I talked to that I got upgraded to Dish 200 for 12 months for free.

name, phone, and address above removed by me!
Why would you remove your name, but leave the name, phone number, and email of the person at Dish? Pretty tacky and cheap move on your part in this post of you ask me!
How about posting you name, number and email address on here for all to see. Would you like it?

Does it matter. Its a business isn't it. If she's going to post it in an email,I don't think she's to worried about who sees it.

I say put as many Dish executives name out there that does not know what the hell is going on. Hold them accountable.

I wonder when Dish customers will see a price increase :)
There is a line of people that would like to sue Dish Network.
Dish doesn't lose money, the money comes out of the customers pocket.
