Sirius has a much better footprint in the US and drops out far less than XM.

I recently bought a Pontiac G6 with XM built in and it drops everywhere. When I put my Starmate Replay in the car it never drops??

Is it because Sirius uses orbiting satellites?

I find just the opposite here in NJ. My XM rarely drops out while my Sirius drops out a lot. In my case, there are too many terrestrial radio stations putting out strong signals. The XM Delphi SkyFi2 I have was the stronger one that the FCC later neutered to make less powerful, so i don't have this issue, but the sats have never dropped out unless I'm alongside a mountain wall or near a large bulding in a suburban town.
