Change is not improvement:

Before it was:
1. click on image wait for new browser window to open.
2. close window.
3. click on next image and wait some more.

Now its:
1. Click on image shorter wait for enlarged image to appear.
2. clink on "NEXT"

That makes for one less step and also makes it easier to view images in order without missing any.
This is not quite the way I see it.
Before, I think if you hovered over the picture for a -long time- then it did its clever go-to-black trick.
Now, the timeout is just TOO darned short.

I had absolutely no trouble using, controlling, and taking advantage of the "before" way.
And the new zoom-half-way, is not appreciated, either.

Now, as I slide my mouse to select a picture, there is no time to click it to pick my picture.
Instead, the screen goes black, the first picture does NOT load correctly, and I'm faced with trying to figure out how to see any of the pix.

The back button on the browser backs you out of the thread, so what might be intuitive is useless.

edit: in the middle of typing this, I retested to see if something had changed.
I have no idea what is going on now!
I just cannot characterize the operation.

Sorry, but I have to say: THIS JUST SUX.
Frustration has taken over, and I no longer even care to type about this change!

You can hover over it but if you click on the pic it goes to the black screen

right click and open in new tab...works great that way

I won't be posting my own, or clicking on anyone elses attachments. That whole thing with the screen turning dark and it trying to show up in the middle of the screen without a click sucks! Made me think the computer was going nuts or something! I hope this isn't part of the site "upgrade"....can the attachments go back to the way they were?

I totally agree!!!

Yes, thanks. That's a useful variation.
However, the extra mouse-moves and clicks make for a very frustrating experience.
I just looked through a 10-picture post by one of our esteemed FTA members.
It was agonizingly slow and irritating. And I'm on DSL. :(

Please give the users a setup option or restore the original operation.
This unilateral change goes well beyond the advertizing as a disincentive to users.

Well now it looks like the "Slide show option" has been completly removed now u can't even click on the post number and get it to come up. this is just CRAP. Why do i have to open a window for each picture when the feature is there and disabled.

The score on this thread seems to be 5 against the new feature but at least 3 have said they like it better. and we all know that you only respond when u dislike something but never respond when You like something.

Can you please reenable this feature, I don't care if hovering is turned off but would like for a click of any pic to bring up the slide show of all of them.

No not completely removed, I am trying to figure out a way to make it enabled by default but be able to turn it off for those who dont like it. So far no luck but I am working on it. :)

Personally, I like the click on method (I did not like the hover) and I like how it makes the big images fit on the screen nicely. :)

well add me to the group of don't like
i'm on dialup (and i know must be one of the few) no choice for me
and i get dead black boxes , it probably looks great on high spped end where the pic just loads as you move over it but on my end it just blackens the screen and puts a box with a red X in it.

i still try to open one pic at a time in another tab or window but i usually get to select so i don't have to try and load every picture . i noticed now it only opens if i click it which that is better for me cause i can right click instead. I don't want to open them all :)

Seems to me that it takes forever to see the images...........you are sitting there with a blacked out screen for a long time before the image shows up. At least if you open it in a new window you can view it as it loads to determine if it's something you want to look at. If you wait on the darkened screen it seems that you wait and wait and wait and then..............it's not even the picture you thought it was from the thumbnail. To me it seems much more cumbersome to view attached pictures. I liked it the old way. Just my $0.02

is it just me ... ?

Is it just me? Or, has the matter been resolved in favor of the old display method?
(opening in a new tab for me on FireFox)

It was that long lag with the black screen which was unbearable.
If it'd just filled in live, I would have had a -lot- less to say about it!
But, this is so much better.
Thanks for listening. - :up

Add me as one of the people who don't like the black screen. Before I would click on the picture and Firefox would open a new tab, now I have to right click and select open in new tab, it's an extra step.

BTW...the pictures never show up for me when I just click the picture.

I like the old way better myself too Euro. What I do is right click on the thumbnail and tell it open link in a new window and its just like the old days. :D

Yes that works the best for me in Firefox, right click and open new tab. If I just click on the picture to open it, it never does open.

If you use the QuickDrag Add-on for Firefox, you can just drag the thumbnail to any blank space on the page and it will automatically open it to full size in a new tab.

still not happy:

1. the picture only comes up about 90% of the time. Sometimes I'm just left with a black screen!
2. with no fill-while-you watch, the black screen time is intolerable.
3. if the picture sent from the server were really down-sized, all this would go a lot faster, but as far as I can tell, a 2 mega byte picture still takes forever.

right click and open in a new tab. Thats the easiest way to open them. Doesn't affect your browsing and you can still read the post
