Well I've wondered why the past few months I couldn't downgrade my premiums.

According to D* csr's you can no longer remove Premiums without calling directv's 1800 number.

That kind of stinks. But is it really True?

I know I can switch Base packs, and remove ONLY HD Extra Pack. All the rest claim I have to call the 1800 number.

So I called , and they confirmed my worst fear.:(

No biggie to me - I'm on TC+ & have NO intention of changing it so that I can pay $2.50 MORE than Choice Xtra subs.
Also, I couldn't tell you the last time I added/deleted a premium service - they're too expensive for my tastes now.

I think this is just the latest attempt by DirecTV to stop people from subbing for a few days or a week. A couple of years ago they instituted a penalty for people who did this.

I doubt they really care about people downgrading after a few days, seeing they get charged for the Month anyways.

It's nothing new--I ran into that around 3 years ago. If you have a grandfathered package you cannot make any programming changes online unless you change to a current package. I have never run into any issues making the changes by telephone and have even been offered some freebies when doing so.

I called Direct the other day to cancel my free Showtime they gave me (was about up) They tried offering me it way cheap to keep it and I declined. (Showtime stinks) Maybe by calling in this is there way to try to get you to keep something by offering incentives.

Hemi whats your base package ? If you still hve the older plus dvr of plus hddvr plans it wont let you change.

No I have Choice Extra.

I thought it was because of my Premiums Promotions. But they have ended about 1 month ago.

So I'm not sure. But CSR said no downgrading online, But I want to confirm here .

Yeah I cant get a yes or a no on this I use to dealing with customer who had TC or TC+ or another expired plan it the first I heard of a regular package customer having that problem. But again they might of blocked it so they force you to premium cancelation department which I mentioned here before. Which honestly would not surprise me.

I can still Change my Base Pack , If I want online, As well as Free Promos like HD Extra I can remove and yearly loyalty gift , Protection plan, can be removed. Nothing else though.

What the hell is the purpose of having online access to your account if you can't make changes to your account? With all the recent changes to D*, most not for the best, I'm beginning to sour on this once fabulous service. I have had D* for almost eleven years and am slowly beginning to change my tune.

Well you can still Upgrade.

But this just shows me that D* doesn't want downgrading to be so easy.

Yep . Dishnetwork , same thing, I just hope D* doesn't get it in there head to start charging $5 to do it.

It´s been like 3 years since I had Directv, but I had my DishNetwork sub until a couple of months ago, and yes I remember something like I could only downgrade on line like once every 6 months or so, otherwise I´d have to call them and either way they would charge the 5 bucks.

Dish was 1 time in a twelve month period. and still a $5 downgrade charge.

I noticed that as well, that when it comes to preimums you cant downgrade. I was able to drop HD pack then re pick up again for three months at no cost. Since they have the 30 day rule, I wonder why they would not want to stop folks from dropping online, other then being able to try to keep you on board....if credits are offered I guess not a bad thing? kind of a pin though to have to call to drop (though I think you can do it automtated as well, which is fast)

Yea the offer you credits, get you thinking how great it is, Then they tell you you can have it because your already getting a programming credit.

The online feature needs to come back.

It seems like everytime I call in they try to get me on those stupid movie channels.

I wonder how many times the following note is in my account
"Customer does not like movies. DOnt try to sell him on movie packages. He will decline every time" ;)
