After pushing microwaves around for many years and being a tch guy, for a living I am embarrassed to find myself in this position.
I do know better.
My 4D is going away when NPS shuts down so I dug out my SV HD8000 and set it up for OTS digital in place of my Samsung tuner.
I did a scan but only got 12 of the 15 channels I should have
The minor problem: I couldn't get Low band VHF (Ch 39 to show up)

1. Read on the net it was a known problem, fix was to get the latest factory bin.
2. Went to the sonicview support page and downloaded the only factory bin file listed for the 8000. SVHD8000_Factory_20080108.zip
When extracted it gave me hd8000_p_08Jan2008_v250_b203_n.bin,
3. When unzipped put it on a clean USB formatted in the 8000..
4. Loaded it on the box. Everything seemed to go as expected.
Did a scan for OTA channels and nothing showed up..

Version menu shows
Boot Loader 2.03
Main Software 2.50
Front Software vb-07

My unit was one of the first ones out.
Is this bin for a V2 model?
I have a hunch this factory bin is not for my early unit.....

(Yes I should have dumped the USB to a backup file so I could reload it.)

Can anyone shed some light on this one?

My plan is to replace the feed in my 10 ft bud and use it for FTA after my C band goes away.

They didn't say C band was going away. but their service to me is going away.
I think it is time for a least a gallant try of FTA.
If I am forced into it I will move everything over to to C band W5 with a subscription.
I just hate their package compositions. Thanks for the reply.

I did get things back up and running but Istill can't scan the DTV VHF freqs for Ch 39.
