i get sound thru my stereo but not thru my tv when i use
the OTA, for me to get sound thru my tv i have to go to
setup and turn off the dolby digital and set pcm.
how do i get both.

also is there any 5.1 movies on D*?

Someone might be able to help you if you post more info about your setup
what make/model tv
what kind of D* receiver
what kind of stereo receiver
what kind of cable connections

Your question is kind of vague

sorry its vague, new samsung 50" dpl
D* receiver H10
stereo sony 5.1 DA333ES
cable connection--hdmi D* to TV
fiber opt to sony reciever
to D* reciver

my E* receiver or my dvd player have no problem auto detecting
5.1

thanks

Did you change the Audio setting in you D* H10 receiver to decode DD!? im not to familiar with the H10 but many receivers have this feature!

yes i did change my setting on D* to DD,
thats when i loose my sound on my tv when watching ota channels,
then i change it back to pcm to sound on the tv

I have never used an HDMI connection to a TV (so I am just shooting in the dark), but I know HDMI includes video and audio signal, your tv probably does not have a built in DD decoder. Maybe the HDMI is overriding the fiber optic out to your receiver. Does the TV or D* receiver have some way of disabling the audio over HDMI, or is it automatically disabled when you hookup fiber optic cable? Maybe try another video cable such as DVI, component or S-video, just to see what happens. (Just a wild guess)

You said you don't get sound on OTA, does that mean that you do get sound when watching a satellite channel? I would think that if one worked then both would work, but I am not familiar with how the H10 gets OTA signal, on my HR10-250 it is seemless, do you have to switch some kind of inputs to get OTA on the H10?
