I'm looking to setup a noaaport system, and I was wondering if I could get by with an 8' dish? I don't need guaranteed availability during heavy rain or anything. "Usually works" is good enough. Would be located around N32 W90. Based on Norsat's Satellite Locator app, I have a clear view of SES-1.

Also, are there any alternatives to using a Chaparral Polarotor and Norsat 3120 that would be suitable for this?

If it matters, I will be using a Novra S300N receiver.

Welcome to SatelliteGuys!!
I haven't personally tried this yet.
I think it would be neat to do, just too many hobbies and not enough time. :)

Totally missed that thread, thanks for posting. I have great interest in getting this to work but only once I see others having success. Don't have much time to devote to big projects these days unfortunately.

I was hoping to hear of reports after the switch to DVB-S2. Still, sounds like I really need to start driving around looking for some 12 footers!
