I've been playing with the Pansat 3500s for awhile now, and by a sheer fluke the other day decided to actually tune into a channel that had a $ next to it in the listings. I had figured that these $ mean they were not FTA stations and could not be received, but suddenly this station was coming through pretty clear. I did a quick check of other stations with a '$' on T-5 and wow--quite a few came through.

So why is that? Why do they come up with the $ sign (which I thought meant encrypted) but actually come through in the clear?

some do that and I dont know why

Theres a couple church channels on AMC4 that are the same way. They have a $ in front but are FTA on Lyngsat :)

I'm now going through and rescanning. Since I was only scanning for FTA Only I didn't get the $ on some satellites, so now I'm redoing my whole list one by one. Kind of a pain, but if I get more...

AMC4 is one to do all

I would stay clear of IA6 & G3 scanning all becuase there is a lot of scrambled stuff
