This is the release version of the program originally known (and debuted in the DIRECTV monthly magazine) as Copilot.

The iPad is getting dangerously close to having a practical application.

No viewing. Just a very slick remote control.

It is somewhat reminiscent of DISH Network's Remote Access feature without the Slingbox integration.

I think so but still not sure. I guess we will have to wait a little longer for more details.
Nomad is another project. We may be getting these two projects confused with one another.

Nomad is further out, but is a device that will let you watch your Directv remotely. Similiar to a slingbox without the slingbox. Actually perhaps closer to a pocket-dish without the hard drive, streaming instead. At least that's what I've pieced together.

Again, think of it as a wonderful remote control.
Access the playlist, click the show you want, and it starts playing on your TV.

Just a fancy remote. Big whoop (I will still download it though, as long as it is free)...

If you can actually watch your DirecTV on it, then it would be cool.

I totally agree with Dodger. This to me is nothing special at all.
Here's hoping that this is not the only thing under the Directv hood this year.
