OFFICIAL DISH / FOX ORDEAL DISCUSSION THREAD

I just got off the chat with the Customer rep

Please wait while we find a representative to assist you...
Welcome to DISH Network Chat.
(03) Customer Rep: How may I help you?
Me: Hi
(03) Customer Rep: Hello.
Me: I hear that Dish Network is removing some or all of the FOX channels, because of the ongoing negotiations.
(03) Customer Rep: I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you.
Me: Can you tell me which channels are being removed?
(03) Customer Rep: We regret that FOX has decided to remove their FX/National Geographic programming from our customers. While we work hard to negotiate for the return of your programming as quickly as possible, we are giving you access to HDNet on your FX channel and HD Theater on your National Geographic channel, which have very similar programming.
(03) Customer Rep: Please verify the phone or the account number.
Me: I already have those channels.
(03) Customer Rep: FOX has removed their Regional Sports Networks, FX and National Geographic Channel from the DISH Network line-up. Other channels, including your local FOX TV station and FOX News/FOX Business News are not affected.
Me: I subscribe to America top 200
(03) Customer Rep: I see.
Me: That means I lost Regional Sports, FX and Nat Geo, which I do watch almost everyday
(03) Customer Rep: Here are the list of channels that will be affected: Fox Sports Arizona

(03) Customer Rep: I understand that these channels are part of your package.
Me: Are the once I am concerned with
(03) Customer Rep: To ensure I have the correct account pulled up, will you please verify the last four digits of your social security number?
Me: 7598
(03) Customer Rep: Thank you.
(03) Customer Rep: FOX’s demands would mean unreasonable rate increases for DISH Network customers. FOX has demanded a rate increase of more than 50%. If DISH Network agrees to these terms, it will mean that your monthly price will go up. We understand your Regional Sports Networks are important to you, and we are working hard to return your programming as quickly as possible.
Me: Since the removal of the channels diminishes my viewing experience, I would like to receive some kind of credit until the channels are back. I think it is only fair.
(03) Customer Rep: I can see that you can get free Starz for 3 months if the account will be enrolled in Autopay with paperless billing.
Me: I know about paperless billing and do not want enroll. I like to pay the bills on my terms
(03) Customer Rep: Starz includes 8 channels and 1 HD channel. It has more than 400 different movie choices every month.
(03) Customer Rep: I understand.
(03) Customer Rep: I see you are one of our best customers. So we can assist you further, let me transfer you to one of our account specialists with our Loyalty Team. Please hold a moment while I connect you.
(03) Customer Rep has left the session.
Please wait while we find an agent from the (20) Loyalty department to assist you.

Thank you for visiting Dish Network. You may now close this window.
Your session has ended. You may now close this window.

I know it is not much, but it is something.

For those that cannot find RSN games in HD, look around channels 444-449. That is where they would be (especially College Football tomorrow).

Kab,

Do you want to make this bet? I am serious. If you win, I will pay one full year subscription to this site for you and if I win, you do the same for me. Agreed?

Had 1 or 2 games blocked out this morning. I do not get why the HD feeds are not provided. HD FOR LIFE you know....LOL. Anyway, at least they put the HDNet Movies HD feed and the HD Theater HD feed for those who do not have HD Platinum and had FX HD and NatGeo HD. Not like when Palladia SD replaced Fuse.....I am still upset that they did not put in another music channel for that one since there are many others that could have been launched on E* rather than saying they launched Palladia just when they dropped Fuse.....

So again, for everyone else....

channel 136 (FX) is now HDNet Movies [even if it still shows FX on the EPG]
channel 186 (NatGeo) is now HD Theater [even if it still shows NatGeo in the EPG]
channels 9660 and 9682 have the following (although I cannot remember which channel numbers go with each channel):

NBA TV
New England Sports Network
NFL Network
NHL Network
Altitude Sports
Big Ten Network
Comcast SportsNet California
Comcast SportsNet Chicago
Comcast SportsNet Bay Area
Comcast Sports Network Mid-Atlantic
Comcast Sports New England
ESPN Classic (although that one was removed a while back...)
FOX Sports Northwest
FOX Sports Pittsburgh
FOX Sports Rocky Mountain
Mid-Atlantic Sports Network
Mid-Atlantic Sports Network 2
SportsNet New York
SportsTime Ohio

Charlie said 20....so, maybe I am missing one unless he counted wrong....:)

Just got home and am getting these other sports channels but they are in SD only not HD.......is anyone getting the HD versions ? Sorry if this has been asked before but this is a very long thread.

These are not the dropped channels; these are the channels replacing the dropped channels (remap and free to those that do not sub to these channels or packages that include these channels)

I may be alone in this, but I'm not in any rush to try and get a discount for the missing channels, or even for the multi-sport pack I'm playing for.

The way I see it, DISH is the party I am contracted with and the party I pay most directly. So, I would ultimately like them to win rather than lose on this. And if Dish is the only one to feel the sting, then they are likely to cave.

Whatever the merits of each side, that means higher rates for me. I can switch, but it also puts more pressure on Direct and means less choice for me as well.

This may be naive, but one way or another, I'm most affected by Dish's bottom line and I'm stuck with them for the time being, so I feel like I should do whatever little bit I can to keep them from giving in in the short term. That includes swallowing a few missing channels for a few weeks of months without getting reimbursed or emailing them to complain, I'm willing to accept it rather than encourage Dish to settle closer to Fox's terms.

I didn't lose my RSN and don't subscribe to the multi-sports package (have AT200) and none of the substitute channels are even in my all channel list in the 9600 range or in the remap area in the 400's.

I realize they are not the dropped channels and that is why I am getting them in the 9660+ range because FS North is no longer but I am only receiving the SD versions of these channels not the HD versions. Are others who lost their RSN getting these free channels in HD since I am not.

I'm one of the ones feeling absolutely screwed having just recently upped from 200 to 250 and really enjoying NatGeo. At the moment Shaw is sounding very attractive.

If you're gonna bet with KAB, you may want to specify the period of time that this won't happen with Directv. Never? 1 year? 2 years? :D
He is the one that made the comment. Whenever our turn is up, as he stated.

I guess he means whenever this current contract period ends. I will bet him that no Fox channels will be dropped on Direct anytime between this current contract and the next one.

Is it because the RSNs are game only and there are currently no games you can watch?

When these channels do return to Dish, do you think Dish will announce that they are "Dish is glad to add these great Fox channels to our HD line up as part of Dish's commitment to increasing the number of HD channels our subscribers get." :D

Ghpr13:(

Charlie and E needs to keep provider fees low so they can get away with rape fees on extra receivers.

glad i dumped E my favorite channel is national geo........
