$430 with free shipping (other than the 1909, I really like the price and reviews on this one)

From what Ive seen the Denon Audyssey is worth it, just that the PIO is a great price. Also heard Marantz is awesome too.

BTW, this is the foundation of what my system is going to be, Ill be buying new speakers and a sub in the coming months. Only requirements are 3 hdmi's in, and internal decoding of TrueHD and Master. Primarily used for Blurays and DVDs.

Interesting, Amazon still has onkyo 805's, $682 with free S&H. Hmmm.

Edit:

Did some more digging, found a 805 at the CCity outlet for $550, which is about the same price as a 1909/789. I think the 805 is a better buy.

Yeah, just found out that the 805 is out of stock at CCity outlet :(. Also out of stock at Ecost.

Need to reed up on the 806 now I guess. Man, whys it gotta be so hard?

Just my two cents here as I am no expert but what I do know is that Denon is a very sold receiver. It doesn't get very hot and has one of the lowest failure rates. I have had a Denon 3805 receiver for 4 years or so wiith zero hiccups. In fact my cat sleeps on top of it everyday and even her hair has not caused any problems lol. I would not even consider any receiver that does not have Audyssey Dynamic Volume, MultiEQ XT & Dynamic EQ. You can see what receivers have this here: Audyssey-Enabled Products | Consumer-Ready

Why do you want to buy from Amazon when you can buy from a place like 6th ave. who is an authorized dealer?
With the coupon code AFLAUD25 you get 25% off of eligible receivers.
Here are the prices at 6th ave with the discount and free shipping:

Denon AVR2809 = $749.25
Denon AVR2309 = $561.75
Denon AVR1909 = $449.25

Marantz SR5003 = $599.25

That Onkyo looks like a good deal too. Just know that they run quite hot but they are very popular.

No problem. HD MM posted it a few days ago and got me sold. He should get a commission from 6th ave lol.

Damn! Didn't even get to chime in on my opinion! ;):D

Good move. I weighed all the receivers you were looking at and decided on the 1909. After reading hundreds of pages at AVS, the 1909 looks like an awesome deal.

Thanks. Using cash to buy it at 6ave allows me to use my BBuy Christmas cards to get a sub in early Jan!

Cool, congrats. Glad we could help! Denon's are a very solid receiver & with the Auddessy technology they have the receiver should sound awesome!

Great. Nothing against the 605, but I bought it as a refurb to test the waters of True and Master HD. I was never an audio guy, but now that Im hooked, the 1909 will be the foundation. Also learned a LOT about Audyssey post calibration settings at AVS, funny how its not plug and play.

Once I buy my cub, then Ill be upgrading the center and fronts, but that will be down the road because I like the way my Polks sound now.

Tell me about it.

Bought a BD30 in Jan, bought the plasma in March, bought the 605 in the summer, bought the BD35 last month, just bought a 1909. :D

Alot of what I do gets recycled. The 605 will be going on the classified here and ebay

I gotta stop reading these threads. I just bought my Yamaha 663 last June and am pretty happy with it, but that Denon. Dang! Where were all these receivers (at these prices!) last spring when I was between the 606 and the 663. I got the 663 partly because Best Buy didn't carry the 606, and I got 24/mo. 0% financing on it along with a bedroom TV I bought at the time, which I want to upgrade now as well!
