NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Cablevision Systems Corp.'s (CVC) new satellite-TV
service Voom will be expanding into additional retail locations over the next
couple of months.

The new service, which launched late last year, is currently sold either
through the company's Web site or at Sears Roebuck (S) locations.

Mickey Alpert, senior executive vice president and chief operating officer of
Rainbow DBS, who spoke at an industry conference Tuesday, did not specify
through which outlets Voom would become available.

Rainbow DBS is the Cablevision unit that controls Voom.

Characterized as the Rodney Dangerfield of the satellite world, Voom, which
was launched Oct. 15, had signed on 1,627 customers through March 1. The
service has been unpopular on Wall Street where many are anxiously waiting for
Cablevision to spin off the venture. Alpert on Tuesday reiterated the company's
intention to file spin-off papers in the second quarter.

In other areas, Alpert said the company is in talks with satellite
manufacturers. The company has put down despoits on five ka-band slots and must
sign a contract with a manufacturer before the end of the year in order to hold
onto the slots. Alpert added it would be three years before a new satellite is
launched.
