Hi Everyone, I read the forums all the time but hardly post and haven't had many issues with my setup over the many years. However, today is the day. I woke up this morning after having the latest of constant severe storms to see my 12 foot Paraclipse C band antenna sitting on the ground. The top t brackets on the back plate snapped along with the bolt causing it to completely drop.
As you can see by the photo, I think my only solution is to find another intact back plate. I don't think my can be repaired. What do you think?
Would anyone out there know of any Paraclipse 12 foot classic that you might know of. I am desperate in getting this antenna back in action as I still refuse to let go of the technology as I enjoy using it.
Any suggetions and thoughts would be appreciated
Jim

I see that it's only broken on one side. With the help of someone else, you can realign the disc and secure it only on one side with the original bolt.
Then, on the broken side, you measure and make a metal plate that you attach to the engine. On the opposite side, you drill a hole and insert a new bolt.
Then, if I were you, I'd also make this metal plate on the opposite side.
The damage isn't that serious.

My first thought was to weld it but with a little research, heating that aluminum alloy will weaken it in the long run. However, welding the broken pieces and then taking Anto's idea of reinforcing the rabbit ears is a great idea. My brain is a little slow in picturing the extra strengthen but I draw some sketches going by his description and see what I come up with.
Thanks for all the input. I have had the dish since 1993 and refuse to let go.

I agree with many. Flip it 180 Degrees that were the most force is on it! Lots of ways to repair that aluminum. Go to a machine shop or send a few a picture, you will get that up and running again. That was always my favorite of all the BUDs
