Yeah, I keep seeing that mentioned in the various Dish threads on here. I'm guessing Dish planned to include it in one of their new receivers but they just forgot? Or maybe it was something that was being beta tested a long time ago and was just never released to regular customers yet?

With the Hopper 3 having 16 tuners, there is no need for a red recording light. You keep seeing it here as a joke to one of our members who really misses that light 16 tuners or not.

To me,16 tuners has nothing to do with the red recording lite. I liked the lite for a quick check to see if something is recording without having to use the remote control. Not a joke to me. I still miss it.

To me,16 tuners has nothing to do with the red recording lite. I liked the lite for a quick check to see if something is recording without having to use the remote control. Not a joke to me. I still miss it.

Sorry about that post earlier my freind made. I told him like 20 times go on marketplace or ebay for cheap priced equipment and he says Ok...4 minutes later he's on here lol. Anyway just wanted to straighten that up a bit I'll warn him not to make any ridiculous threads like that again

Dish made those for Channel Master, they also marketed their own line of DTVpal tuners and DTVpal DVRs that were only for receiving OTA.

Strange question: if I got a unactivated brand new 311 or dp301 and hooked it up to a bell expressvu satellite would it download software from bell or do nothing
