older dish

I have newer diectv boxes at my house. I have a summer home with a older boxes and the dish. Can I take my newer boxes to the summer home?

depends on the model of the receiver.

Anything other than a HR34 or H25.....yes. You would need 2 cables for DVR's and you wouldnt get any HD programming
HR34 and H25 require the SWM setup (one cable) and wont work on the older dish setups

you probably would have to do a satellite recheck when you get there to get the receiver to work with the older dish (I assume the 18" single LNB setup)?

Yes, but the Slimline won't mount on the older mast. You would have to replace it with the 2" type.
