When all the orange lights are lit, what is that? I've read on here that when only the top is lit that is 1080i, but I don't see too much difference between that and when all are lit.. any clues?

All four lights
is "native" resolution. Whatever signal comes into the receiver (480, 720, 1080), the receiver passes it to the monitor. This is where I leave mine, most to the time. Only problem I have is the Cinema10 channels are 720, my sony cant handle them. So I switch to 1080 when I watch them,and the voom box upconverts them for me.
