I just called DirecTV to upgrade my old D100 standard receiver on a second television to a non HD DVR. The CSR was extremely helpful and gave me a deal that is hard to believe. First she said she would replace the standard DVR being offered with an HD DVR and waive the $199 fee. Then she set up an installlation appointment and waived the $49 installation fee. Then she gave me a $12 per month HD DVR credit for my 2 receivers for on my bill for 2 years. Finally, she added 2 months of free Showtime. I was going to eventually replace the standard TV with a new HD TV, so now I'll be all set when I do.
I did have to agree to a new 2 year commitment, but that isn't a problem. All this won't cost me a penny. It sure pays to call and ask a CSR what is available.
