I can remember my older sisters playing a few of these songs around the house when I was a kid. Not sure if they were 45's or 8 tracks, or it might have been played on WAKY radio station out of Louisville, Kentucky; but my parents still have that stereo in their upstairs storage area.

Good stuff!! It's all before my time but for some reason that is the music I really enjoy. Probably 'cause a lot of new stuff sucks!!
After seeing your post and having been in Wal-Mart this morning I bought 2 cd sets, one a 70's and one a 60's compilation. Quite a few of the above songs are there. Unfortunately they are original artists but not all the original recordings.........sigh....what did I expect for 2 for $10 2 disc sets? :)

You said it brother! Right on the mark and exactly why I was having so much fun putting the post together. These songs are GREAT! They mean something and they mean a lot to me. You just witnessed a great deal of my youth in song. Excuse the errors and flops, but I am sure that the message of fun got across regardless.

What is really neat to me is that I have all of these and many more on 45's. Well, sort of, I should say that my Mom has them (they were all bought by my brothers and my sister and I) and now they are my Mom's collection. Hundreds upon hundreds or maybe thousands of 45's and many LPs. There is a huge collection of old 78's, too! WOW!

I like music and I like these songs so much that I just had to share them and the memories with you. I hope that you enjoyed the ones that I selected.

Party on my friends! :)

Now I was born in '73 but I had to eject a Sweet greatest hits from my work van CD player to put in the new ones I bought.........I think nowadays with all the electronic processing available, all you really need is a good look and an average voice........or some sort of gimmick. Lets face it, back then there were some downright ugly bands. :D

ROFL!

Yes, but they sure sang great and they all knew how to play more than one instrument! :) Dang they were good!

I wish I were able to reproduce the sounds that they made. I cannot sing, I cannot dance and I cannot play a fiddle or a guitar (without driving the dogs and cats stark raving mad). But, I know good listening music when I hear it! The 50's, 60's, 70's and the early 80's were great for music and musicians. Past 1985, everything went downhill QUICK! Still some good stuff here and there, but most (90%) is rubbish and worse. Some of the "music" today makes me want to either vomit, kill myself or rip the speaker off the wall and smash it. Music isn't supposed to make a person feel that way. Music is supposed to lift you up and make you feel more happy then you already were. It is supposed to be a celebration of life.

So, if you envision sunshine and blue water and blue skies and beautiful girls and majestic mountains and fields of flowers, then the music is good. Otherwise, it is crap! LOL :D

Can you keep up? Better version of Life is a Rock

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxzXNysmxnY"]YouTube- Life Is A Rock - Reunion[/ame]

This one get's me going! How many of you remember it? How many of you REALLY know the words? Don't cheat, just try to listen to them and write them down as they sing... Ready... Go!

I didn't think you could do it (without cheating). I have been trying since 1974 and haven't got it yet!

Hey RADAR!

Is this the replacement for Retro Jams??? :up

I thought that you would include "Radar Love" by Golden Earring just for the names sake!!! ;)

Well, the '80s were my teen years, so I'm very connected to the music from that decade. I still like many of the current songs, but some of my favorite contemporary hits are from '80s artists who are still producing albums today ;) ...

Some of my favorites

I really like the new "Radar-Jams" going on here....

These are all great songs and very talented musicians.

Radar you made a very good point, the music of today just doesnt compare to the music of the past.
