hmmm, this could be very bad for all of the E* DVR customers.

Yeah just got my 722 a month ago :(

sounds to me that Tivo is just being a little **** though. They can't make money so they sue E*.

It's called having a poor business model. They should be suing D* as well.

Just saw this on gizmodo as well...my day will be quite ruined if E* can't negotiate a resolve with Tivo on this prior to any court-ordered DVR shutdowns.

Beer me...gonna be a tough ride from here I think.

I would love to see the option to pay more to have Tivo software on our DVR's. That would make things very interesting.

Although I don't think it will ever happen.

I would love to see the option to pay to have the Tivo2Go PC software so that I could archive to my PC and transfer to my iPod.

I don't think that will ever happen either though.

Had Tivo once. I didn't care for it's suggestions.

(this part is tounge and cheek, I did have a Tivo but never received these suggestions)

Recorded North to Alaska, it recorded Broke Back mountain because I might also like it.

Recorded Hamlet, It recorded Hamptaro......

D* has a non-litigation agreement with Tivo and E* doesn't!

Do you assume that Dish will simply shut down their DVRs ? They will NOT ... EVER. Dish will either buy TiVo and then own these patents or they will pay TiVo a licensing fee.
its possible, however whatever course they take will be expensive, and you can be sure that cost is passed on to someone

From what I understand this will in no way effect anything on the 622 / 722, which does not use the same technology. It may mean slight changes to the DVR operation on older DVR's.

Well if that's true, let's dump the old systems and move everybody to MPEG4 already so we can actually have decent PQ.

Another scenario where this would cost E* alot of money regardless of which DVRs it actually covers.
