I switch to another input and then back to DIRECTV, the TV shows the resolution and HDR .

Can someone in a short summation PLEASE explain what this "HDR" is, is this something different from the "4K" ? Do I have to pay extra for HDR, something new to worry about.

it's High Dynamic Range, it's just something on some 4k TVs that enhances the 4k picture quality

I tuned to it only briefly and I don't recall seeing HDR light up on my display.

I did a search for hdr through Directv and this game came up and showed 4K and HDR in description. I am also noticing a lot of shows on the 4K channel looking much richer and colorful. I know the new update adding HDR support. Just wonder if there is some kinda bug that is not allowing TVs to detect HDR and change TV settings accordingly. The picture does look a lot better on some programs.
