Hello
Hopper 3, with wired joeys 2, and 52.0 remote. The joey has software version J272.
As I watch a program from OTA channels or satellite channels, pressing the back rewind button EVER SO SLIGHTLY, jumps way back to the beginning of when I tuned to that channel; it's as if I held it down using SUPER THUMB. It happened with another remote, so I paired a newer remote that wasn't used as much = same result.

Is this a software thing? Or is my thumb that powerfully strong?

thank you

Unplug your Hopper, wait 30 seconds, re plug the Hopper and let it restart. Might be a transient software glitch that rebooting fixes.

That's always the first thing to do when Dish hardware goes wonky.

Thanks Jim
I killed the power to it, not unplugged, a few days ago. Would that count?

See I told you it wasn't your thumb. Next time try a 🛠.

Hi
Apparently, my thumb remains strong despite fatigue from the Olympic games.

Has the software issue been resolved? Or do we have to continue to rewatch everything after one subtle press of the rewind button??

I have this same problem on MLB Extra Innings while the game is still recording. Skipping forward or back usually goes to the very beginning or end of the recording. FF is hit and miss in behaving normally. Behavior seems somewhat better when watching a recorded game after all recording has ended. Fortunately, MLB.TV streaming ability is included in EI, so that allows one to perform the lost functions, when necessary. I tried corresponding with a Dish tech for a while, but didn't get anything useful other than they would refer it to someone higher up.

This issue seems kind of random. It seems to work correctly on some channels and not on others. And when it doesn't work correctly, the results are inconsistent. Anyway, Dish tech said they're aware of it, and I've been getting around this by using the back button and not the one that's supposed to back up 10 seconds.

I had the same problem with a hopper 3, and some other DVR weirdness. Dish came out yesterday and installed a new, fancier box, so I’m curious to see if that fixes it. The tech said they’ve had a lot of problems with the 3.

New fancier box? What is more fancy about it?

Not sure really. More tuners, not sure what else. The last one only had two or three, this one supposedly has sixteen. The Joey is 4K, not that there’s any 4K stuff to watch as far as I can tell. The tech wasn’t sure if the new hopper can do 4K.

I see, you only had 2 or 3 tuners on your old Hopper. That means it wasn’t a Hopper 3 after all. Your new Hopper has 16 tuners. That means your new receiver is a Hopper 3. The new Hopper can do 4K. Just go to one of the 540 channels on a weekend and you will see 4K. In fact if you go to channel 540-03 right now you will see the Georgia-Kentucky football game in 4K/HDR, provided your television has that capability.
