Hi
I recently purchased and installed a prof 7301 in my computer. I am running win 7 x64 and have installed the 1.1.2.0 x64 win7 driver from prof's website. According to my device manager, the card is recognized and working properly. My problem is that when I try to run dvbdream, the device manager recgonizes the card using prof's bda_prof.dev module. When I click on my card and tell dvbdream to start it, I get an error. Everytime since when I try to start up dvbdream, the program just closes and will not run. Below is a copy from the dvbdream log of when it crashes. It appears to be due to the bda_prof.dev module, but I do not honestly know what all of this mean. Any help on how to get things up and running would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Do you have any other drivers for BDA-based tuners installed on this system? Prof's bda.dev does not get along very well with some of them. I had to manually rip out my DVB World 2104 drivers on XP to get DVB Dream to work with Prof 7301 and 7500 tuners.

No. This is the first card that I have installed since I installed Win 7. I have also installed progdvb to see it would work also. It too, recognizes the card but puts a red x by the card name in the device manager when I try to start it. Is it possible that the two programs are conflicting, and/or a bad card?

What other peripheral devices or cards do you have installed on your machine? The crash dump suggests there may be one or more.

The problem with the Prof bda.dev is that when it finds something it thinks might be a BDA device, you can get crashes very much like this. You do not have to have manually installed a driver or even have the device connected for this to happen. I've hassled Prof about fixing this, but so far they haven't recognized this as their problem. Of course, you may be experiencing something completely different.

I used to have a Pinnacle TV usb tuner installed, but I have since uninstalled it. When I first put built this computer and put win 7 on it, I put my old technisat card in. I could never find any win7 drivers for it, so I never installed anything for it. That I know of, windows never installed any drivers for it, as it always showed up with a yellow question mark in my device manager.
The only other cards that I have in are my video and sound cards. I have installed my old scanner lately, but I doubt that would have much affect.
Short of doing a clean install, is there a way to try and fix this?

Unfortunately uninstalling a driver doesn't always purge the system of all remnants. Based on your error looking all but identical to what I experienced, I am inclined to suspect you have not completely 'cleansed' your system from one of your previous tuners. In my case I had a DVB World USB tuner whose driver was 'uninstalled', but I had to manually go through the Windows files and delete everything left over.

The sure way to tell is to remove Prof's bda.dev and use the default one that came with DVB Dream. If DVB Dream starts up with the latter, then you have the problem described. Unfortunately if you don't use the Prof version, you won't be able to command DiSEqc and other useful stuff.
