Hey Guys!
I bought a new Traxis DBS 3500 receiver from a friend who decided she didn't want to go FTA. Plus there was no way to have it installed since the line of site was nearly zero (two story home and big trees).
I paid what she paid for it and it had a Ku LNB with it. :)
Bought it home and installed it (it was a BLAST!!!). Very impressed with the blindscanning! :D
I need help programming a new satellite into this receiver. Will someone please walk me thru it step by step?
What about using a Channel Master channel editor with it?
Your help will be appreciated!

I did this the other day - I believe it's menu/antenna setup/ and then select the number at the bottom of the screen that has "add". Fill in the satellite details you need and then save, then go to "TP scan" and add in a transponder and you should be good to go.

MrFTAMan, Might want to shoot a PM to Member PSB. He would know for sure! He is on vacation now I think but will get back to you as soon as he gets back.

Edit: Sorry about that Tony! I am sure there is another member here MrFTAMan that has the same reciver that can help you out on adding another bird to the list!

Sorry again Ice for the add Tube insert, was unaware and trying to help! :)

Good luck and let us know when you get it programmed with the new satellite! :up

I dont think he's coming back off his "vacation" ;)

I also had to remove the link as it was one big advertisement and that wouldn't be fair to our sponsers here :)

Removed all references & PM Link in the post I made above. :up

Again I was unaware of issues about the situation :)

Thanks for the PM Tony!!

MrFTAMan let us know when you do figure it out dude!

Kevin

I tried twice to add Anik F2 Ku but failed. Should I go to the rederence point and program the satellite, and let it go from there? All other sats are doing great.
Sorry about the PSB situation. I did see the video.
Again thanks guys!

let me tell you my situation from a few hours ago when I had to add in yet another satellite that I found missing from my traxis.

I went to menu/antenna setup and "2" for "add" and I typed in the satellite name. I set the LNB and diseqc info, set "USALS" for the positioning and then went into the USALS menu to punch in the satellite longitude. I exited out and saved the info. I then went to "TP scan" and started to put in a TP. I noticed my dish didn't move to that satellite until after I had punched in the frequency in the TP scan menu. I waited until teh dish got there, added my SR, saw S and Q pop to great levels, then scanned and added the first transponder of that new satellite.

My point to take away is that you may need to enter at least a frequency in the TP scan menu to get the dish to slew to the new location and you may even need to go into USALS if you are using it and make sure the satellite longitude doesn't read 0.0 because if you are using USALS, you might have forgotten that step so the receiver doesn't know where to move the dish to.

Thank you, Skysurfer!
I will try again, after posting this response. I like this receiver alot more than my Pansat 2700a! (Sorry, Pansat).

Good News!
I kept on and on working on the receiver. Then I decided to go outside and check for any problems that may be causing the 3500 not to get the satellites installed.
The problem: When I go past 103 degrees the antennae would be facing the corner of my trailer and the signal would be blocked. So, I was doing everything right all along...
I hooked the cable of the other dish to the 3500 and BINGO got the satellites I was trying to get!!!
Thank you guys for your input.

I think it's funny I responded (and others probably did, too) assuming you had clear arc and didn't realize you only get partial arc with that dish.

I suppose I'll have to remember in future responses on this forum to ask if it's a clear arc situation to begin with.

Well, this is a learning experience for me and the rest of us. Every day I learn something new from this forum. ;)
