If you can afford a $100 hit for a service call every once in awhile, probably not.

If you're not able to "self insure", then the PP can save you some financial distress.

Not worth it.

I have directv 7 years & never would have used it.

So what is it $6/month x 12/months = $72 a year x my 7/years = $504 savings so far.

The protection plan is not worth paying foe if you only have leased units. I have never payed for it and never will. I had one of our leased units replaced last month and it cost all of $19.00 for shipping. I surly can afford that compared the dumb protection plan.

Not true

If you are lucky then it is not worth it. I have been with D for 5 years. I have had my dish moved back on my roof 2 times because of tree growth. And i have 2 receiver go out. So i am not lucky an the plan is worth it to me. Like the man said in the first thread if you have alot of money. And can pay when something happens then the plan is not for you. AS you can see everyone has different answer.;)

Well, I've been with DirecTV since 1994/1995 and have had the protection plan since it was available.

I've had my wiring replaced / worked on twice. several older receivers replaced including an older DTC-210 with a H23 :).

I say it's worth it IF you have mostly owned equipment and a large home with older / extensive / complicated wiring such as myself.

If you only have one or two receivers, and they are leased it may not be worth it, just my opinion.

Good point. I have 3 rec'vrs, 2 HD & 1 Sd with an SL5 & '99 Sony SD dish with a fairly small home and no Prot plan. I wired my own RG6 cable to all rooms when I bought the house back in '91. So far, no cable problems.
