OTHER PVR feature on X2 Premium IV FTA receiver

Looking for help from anyone who's gotten the recording (timer) feature to work with this receiver.
Can't get the box to record anything either by pressing record or programming a recording. Have an external hard drive connected via USB in back of receiver. Have gone in to menu over and over again , I can't even access the pvr setting option. have emailed x2 square tech but thus far their tech support hasn't been that great.

Is the external HDD powered by the USB? If so this may be the problem. If not, May need to know the model of the HDD,

have been using a western digital the book external drive and yes it has it's own powersource

Have you formatted the HDD?

Support FAT16/FAT32/FAT12

What capacity is the hard drive? If it is bigger than 2 TB, you may not be able to use it as is.
I found out the hard way in earlier posts when all I could find at the store was a 3TB drive.
You should be able to re-partition it down to 2TB however. If you format on the PC uncheck Quick Format.

Fixed it. Just in case reading stops with that post.

On the main menu screen there should be an icon marked "External Device". Selecting that will put you into the Disk Management area where you can format the drive.
