I just got DirecTV installed this week. I know DirecTV receivers have an eSata port for adding an external Drive.

1) Is there any Fee for using an External Drive?
2) Does connecting an Esata Drive disable the internal Drive?
3) What happens to content on a DirecTV DVR Internal Drive if the internal Drive is disabled?
4) Is their anyway to transfer content from the Internal Drive to the Esata External Drive?
5) What is the largest Drive that will work (thinking about a 2 Terrabyte Drive)?

Thanks in advance for the answers.

There is no fee for using an external drive.
It does disable the internal drive.
The content stays on the internal drive and can be accessed when the external is removed.
I don't think there is any way to transfer files between the drives.
I know a 1 tb will work, and have read about larger ones, also.
There is a thread about which drives work with which dvrs. It should refer to how big they can be.
Here is the thread. http://www.satelliteguys.us/directv...100775-hr20-hr21-external-hard-drive-fyi.html
Hopefully there is some information on what you need to know!
