Question about PVR

I am looking in to getting an FTA receiver, and have a few questions. I want a receiver that is capable of recording a good amount of tv with the ability to play back at a later date. How does PVR differ from DVR? With PVR can I set a program to record, leave it alone and watch it later?

I am looking at getting the Coolsat 7000 PVR. From what I can gather, I could just get an external hard drive and record as much FTA as I want right? Is there anything I am missing, or should know?

Have you looked at the threads in our equipment review section for the Conaxsat Trio and the Visionsat IV200?
Both sound pretty good, and seem do what you ask for.
I think the latter is pretty much the same as the CS7000, but without the internal flash buffer.

I'm sure both reviewers will help you out with any particular points, if they aren't covered in the reviews.

I've decided to put the IV200 on my Xmas list.
We'll see how I feel once Xmas is here.
