Question about reciever purchase

I have two dvrs, HR22-100 in my living room, and an r22 in my bedroom. From what I understand the r22 has dvi out and can be hooked to an hdtv.

I was looking at getting another reciever, and noticed that the hd reciever, and the standard def dvr reciever are the same price.

Is the current standard def dvr reciever capable of hd, and if so, what would be the disadvantage of getting the standard def dvr reciever over the hd reciever?

do either of the current devices support upnp media servers (I use these with the current recievers I have).
